David Handley
David joins Burke & Handley, P.C. after working for five years at two of the top civil litigation defense firms in Chicago. During this time, he gained extensive experience representing businesses, hospitals, doctors, municipalities, and international manufacturers throughout Illinois. David has successfully handled every aspect of a case from pre-litigation through trial, post-judgment, and appeals.
He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council. David has authored a bi-annual chapter related to civil procedure for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s Handbook for Illinois Civil Practice.
David earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2018. During law school, he served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable John W. Darrah in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and obtained his Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 license while working for the Chicago Transit Authority’s Law Department. David graduated magna cum laude earning his B.A. in Political Science and Spanish at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013.
David is married and lives in Lombard. He is active in the community, serving as General Counsel for the Leukemia Research Foundation Affiliate Board. He is proficient in Spanish and taught English to native Spanish speakers in Madrid, Spain before embarking upon his legal career.
